"But then, there is the "progressive" class ... that aimless mass of Western humanity so burdened by cultural self-loathing that it is to Islam, as ungulates are to lions."
I totally agree and the same applies to the silly requirement of keeping guns in a locked "safe". I clearly recall when growing up that my father, like many others, had several different firearms in the house included a handgun (oh, the thought of it for the anti-gun group) and surprise, surprise, no crime was ever committed. We were taught that guns were tools to be respected and not toys to play with. I should add that my father was a hunter, which was the reason for the assortment of long guns. The hand gun was for our protection, and thankfully he never had a need to use it.
Now it is a different era where law abiding citizens are treated as criminals and too ignorant to know how to store and use a gun of any type. Funny though how the use of firearms by criminals has greatly increased, even when the idiotic gun registry was in place.
Better hide this video quick,or the anti-gun lunatics will be calling for even more expensive gun locks.
Like Alain, I grew up with guns, Dad hunted and trapped, and we kids were taught about the use of guns and safety from a very early age.
Nowadays, I think the hysteria over guns is due to ignorance, and those most fearful of guns have never seen one up close. City dwellers especially, have no everyday use for a gun, so the kids never get used to seeing one by the back porch/kitchen door, as I did. It was a tool, like the nearby axe.
Instead,it's this mysterious, and dangerous item locked up and spoken about only rarely. And, of course, TV and the movie business don't help, making guns a weapon to commit mayhem and murder, and only peripherally a method of self-defence.
We're enjoying a holiday from onerous regulations and creeping firearms bans, until 2105,then we'll see if it continues or we have 'em all confiscated.
